Method of Processing

Charcoal production in brick kilns

The wood is stack together into a brick kiln so that the air has the least space possible. When the kiln is full, it is ignited from the top of kiln; when the fire starts burning (about 30 minutes) on the top of the kiln a metal cover is placed that closes the upper air inlet of the kiln and it continues to smoke from the holes that are situated on the bottom of the kiln where wood first starts to dry and after that process of pyrolysis starts. Five or seven days after the process of pyrolysis is over (wood turned into charcoal), all the holes on the kiln are closed and the kiln goes under a cooling process. The kiln is emptied and the process repeated.
